PRESSURE CANNERS

PRESSURE CANNERS? Where can I find them? They aren't plentiful in Australia, so here are several suggestions:1. Run an ad in you local newspaper for "an American type canner". Hopefully this will turn up a second hand pressure canner for you.
2. Check with Myers or other department stores that sell housewares in your larger cities. The Myers even in Ballarat stocked Tefal brand.
3. Check with nicer kitchen specialty shops. Again in Ballarat, Le Kitchen stocks Fissler which is a lovely unit. When purchasing a pressure cooker, make sure it is tall enough for your jars. Bigger is better! Any of these canners should process at least the 1/2 or 3/4 liter size, but canners need to be tall enough so there is space between the top of the jar lid and the canner.
4. Order a pressure canner from the U.S. This is what Stan and I did. There are many reputable suppliers with on-line ordering possible. Here are some sources.
