Alaska Volcano Observatory (AVO) - AVO is a cooperative organization that uses federal, state,
and university resources to monitor and study Alaska's hazardous
volcanoes, to predict and record eruptive activity, and to implement
public safety measures. The Alaska Volcano Observatory (AVO) is
a joint program of the United States Geological Survey (USGS),
the Geophysical Institute of the University of Alaska Fairbanks
(UAFGI), and the State of Alaska Division of Geological and Geophysical
Surveys (ADGGS).
Cascades Volcano Observatory - Part of the USGS, the Cascades Volcano Observatory (CVO) provides
information on natural hazards in the western United States including
Mount St. Helens. This site contains volcano monitoring/updates,
preparedness planning, links to other volcano sites, and volcano
education and photos.
Electronic Volcano - (Dartmouth College, USA) Info and pictures of active volcanoes
worldwide.
Global Volcanism Program (GVP) - at the Smithsonian Institution documents eruptions -- small
and large -- during the last 10,000 years. This site includes
a data base of volcanoes of the world, and on-line version of
the "Bulletin of the Global Volcanism Network" which provides
reports of ongoing eruptions from local observers around the world,
a catalog of GVP products, information about the program and links
to other volcano sites.
Hawaii Center for Volcanology - a cooperative effort of research and teaching scientists employed
by various organizations within Hawaii. Includes Historical Facts,
Data and Maps, and Periodic Eruption Updates of Kilauea and the
Loihi Seamount.
Rabaul Volcano (Papua New Guinea) current and past activity
Unzen - Decade Volcano (University of Tokyo and Kyushu University) contains information
on Unzen's geological background, seismic exploration under the
Unzen and the chronology and scientific work of the 1990-1995
eruptions. A link to Current Eruptions in Japan is provided.
