FOOD ALARM

Blessings Stan and Holly,

China has suspended corn sales because they only have 22 million tons instead of the 100 million tons they had last year.

Also, China announced to the world they are in need of 142,000 metric tons of pork due to the devastating impact they suffered because of swine flu.

It is estimated that it will take three years for China to rebuild their pork industry if in fact they are able to eradicate the swine fever virus thru inoculation which currently does not exist.

China is approaching DESPERATION in their ability to feed their populace and this is why they were willing to enter into an agricultural trade agreement with the United States.

Under terms of the arrangement, spending will scale to an annual figure of $40 billion to $50 billion over two years, Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin said. U.S. agriculture exports to China totaled $19.5 billion in 2017, government data shows.

"I don't think our farmers can produce that much," Trump joked.

Most economists are applauding this trade deal but I am concerned about escalating food prices in the U.S. because China seems willing to pay premium prices for these goods which will force our prices up as well.

Another concern is the availability of farmable LAND. It appears to me that the U.S. farmer is going to have to INCREASE his land acreage by 20 to 30% in order to supply the agreeable demand in the trade deal. This means MUCH higher rural land prices thus edging out people who might want to live in a rural setting such as a homestead.

FAMINE is coming and WAR because of it.
